Ever since Sparber’s Pepper Labeija mix first pumped into our stores we have been DYING/GAGGING/BEGGING him to make a mix for us. Here it is and it’s amazing. Get ready cause this mix is gonna twerk you out!
Hailing from New York City, Sparber started DJing around his home in the East Village by purchasing two Technics 1200 turntables, cobbling together a few mixtapes with his ever-growing vinyl collection and subsequently landing gigs at well-known New York nightlife institutions. Within a few years, he became known for his eclectic mix of disco, house and booty beats and was traveling to London and San Francisco on the regular to play at Dirtbox, Booty Call, Horse Meat Disco and opening for the likes of Roisin Murphy and Junior Vasquez. He also was tapped to DJ monthly events for New York City’s Mayor Bloomberg at Gracie Mansion as well DJ for Anne Hathaway’s 27th birthday.
In addition to his weekly Wednesday New York party at Eastern Bloc called Good Times, which has been going strong for six years now, Sparber has been doing a hip hop monthly at Metropolitan Bar called JIZZ and has started a house music DJ and production project with Mikey Fuentes under the name DONKEY. With DONKEY, Sparber has begun a mixtape series called SESSIONS and has released both original tracks as well as remixes for the likes of the Carry Nation and The Cucarachas.
